Phew, here are a few updates on a recent show for www.88DB.com . I'll post pictures of me in Philippines soon ! The 1st pic is of me and my `boss' for the day, Christine whom I met at the La Bodega show for Essence Communications in December 2007 .
University Utara Malaysia has just called me up and asked me to do a show for them on the 13th of March . The Menteri Besar of Kedah , Chancellor of UUM , and many VVIPs will be in attendance .
The problem ?? I will be in Philippines ! Oh NO!
The pay is fantastic and enough to cover for my flight back ,hotel stay and much much more . Should I take a flight down just for the show ?? And then a flight back up to Philippines ???

I know , I know , I haven't been updating much . It's a hassle for me now these days . Time flies so fast with so many unessecary things to do in life . I wish I could just spend my life doing things I like and beneficial to me ...but don't we all .
I have been spending most of my time at my new found job these day . I calculate loads , design columns , structures and do spreadsheet on loading failure . To be completely honest , I hate my job . If it wasn't because of my great work mates who offer me a great deal of support and my supervisor who is so caring and nice to me , I would have said goodbye to ENGINEERING a long time ago . I hate my work , but the people I work with are great people .
Till today I hate my parents for putting me into this line . I told them I hated it and they din't listen to a single word I said .
Enough with work , it brings out the worst in me . Nothing good ever comes out from work and studies in the past .
Apart from work, I have been really busy with shows . I have done many shows over the past week and due to the hectic schedule involved in the preperation , I had no time to update my blog . I will update on my shows , and I have received great positive testimonials from my clients .
As for an update , I will be in Phillipines beggining 1st of March . I can't be booked for the whole of March . I've turned down many shows because of this and hope the trip up south is worth it. I really do .
Anyway , I'm not in my greatest mood ever today . Lots have happened lately but I will definitely be up back and BLOG again . My link www.davidlai.tv is now linked to my official website . You can still access my blog from there but I will be getting a NEW link domain soon .

Overall, the show was fantastic and I had so many enquiries I practically ran out of business cards to give out . Just got my new stash today from the printers .
I received excellent feedback from my clients and guests and and that to me if worth my time and effort for the whole event .

I went to the CJ7 movie premier at GSC Mid Valley today . I'm proud to say that I'm one of the handful who got to see the show before it starts screening on CNY ...and boy was it worth every second of my time .
Many people turned out for the screening today including JOJO and Jack Ng from My FM . Jojo was an old friend and we surprised each other by coincidently meeting in the cinema just before the film started . When we were working together a few years back , I was trenched with water on my last day of work , and JO ( as I fondly called her ) , gave me her jacket eventhough I was covered in chili sauce ! Oh well , Jojo's a big star today after getting her big break from joining Miss Astro 2 years back . If you're reading this , good to see you again !

Anyway , back to the movie . I've seen most of Stephen Chow's movie and I'll convincingly say that this his best movie ever . He took CJ7 a notch up from where he left Kung Fu Hustle with , and made the movie into a roller coaster ride of emotions . So many people cried in the cinema ! and who on earth cries at a Chow Sing Chi show ???
Realistic touching scenes
Even I almost cried ( ok , a tear rolled down at a particular scene) . The acting was superb and the comedy inserted wasn't slapstick . You'll really learn `something ' after watching this movie .
To give you a brief description , the movie tells of a father who lives in poverty, doing his utmost to ensure his son has the best education he can get . He teaches his son that allthough they wree poor , they should always uphold high moral standards .-That sums the whole movie up - There was one scene where the son received a 100 marks for his test and Stephen went around the whole construction site ( where he was working ) to show everybody his son's test paper ...touching .
The graphics for the show was amazing too . If you wanted to know what on earth is CJ7 ? Here is a picture I got from my press kit CD .
Adorable ...( what did I just say ??? )
The movie gets my vote as one of the best Chinese flicks I've seen in a long time , comparable to the likes of Jackie Chan's Police Story 4 ( which to my account is the best Chinese movie I've seen so far ) . It's highly recommendable and please do remember to bring a box of tissues when you go to the cinema . This movie will make you cry your hearts out and after a while laugh to your heart's content .
If you're still not convinced , just go watch it for the beautiful teacher ...who is absolutely stunning ...

The premier passes and VIP tag
I went to see Jay Chou at 1 Utama today with Kenny Sia , Liang , Urban Groove and many others . Kenny was nice enough to bring me in and be my `movie' date for the day (that really sounds kinda gay though) .

Anyway , it was drizzling the whole day for the event and I was soaked wet after waiting for Jay Chou to appear . Micheal and Cindy who were working as phothographers for the event were too nice to accompany me under the tent during the wait .I showed them some routines I usually do just to keep our energy high .
After an hours wait ...he finally arrives ...
Security guards everywhere , and I almost thought The Yang Dipertuan Agong was arriving with him . My goodness , the whole tent was cordoned and the only people inside for a while was me,Kenny and Micheal . Pictures weren't even allowed to be taken without his manager's permission . I was standing beside him but wasn't allow to take any shots ! wtf?
See ! his managers were pointing to me and shouting ` NO PICS ! '
Walau his bodyguards, better still . Push people like pushing mandarin oranges only . Crazy man ....I've met many international stars before but never have I seen bodyguards going to this extremes.

Jay stayed for a while ( for about 30 minutes on stage) doing his promo for his new movie Kung-Fu Dunk and taking FAST shots with his fans...( Fans were allowed to have about 5 seconds with him before being shooed away by his body guards) .Even the sponsors , Mamee Funkees found it hard to get near him !
Pierrs , from Mamee Funkees gave me and Kenny tickets for the movie premier of KUNG FU DUNK . The premier was held in the GOLD CLASS segment of GSC 1 Utama .

Overall , I honestly enjoyed the movies except for some stupid unexplainable scenes . There were times me and Kenny sincerely laughed during the screening of the show . To simply put it , the movie was really funny ...but there was no meaning whosoever in the script. For an enjoyable time , I'd definitely recommend Kung-Fu dunk when it hits the cinemas.
A big thank you to Pierrs , Kenny , Micheal and Cindy for making my time at 1U a really enjoyable one !
